Trio of Hearts
Join Paula to learn the basics of needle turn appliqué and sample the joy of hand stitching. Trio of Hearts is geared to the beginner stitcher. This project will allow you to learn the appliqué stitch without the involvement in a large project. You will learn bias stems, points and valleys.

____ 1/3 yard background
¼ yard green
3/8 yard border
¼ yard hearts
¼ yard binding
Backing for 17 x 31
____ thread to match each appliqué fabric
____ scissors for fabric
____ scissors for cutting template plastic
____ extra-fine permanent marker (Sharpie markers work well)
____ mechanical pencil with .05 lead
____ white or silver marking pencil for dark fabric
____ fine straight pins
____ Clover Gold Eye size 9 quilting betweens
____ Tread Heaven
____ thimble or thimble-ettes
____ unlined template plastic
____ sheet of fine grit sandpaper
Pre-class instruction:
Wash and iron fabric
Cut three (3) background squares 8 ½ x 10 ½
Finger press the middle, both horizontally and vertically of the background squares, and run a loose basting stitch by hand on the finger pressed line.
