EASTER EGG PATTERN by Patch Abilities
FABRIC #1: 1/8 yd 'light' for background. From this, cut one 4" x 17 1/2" strip.
FABRIC #2: 1/8 yd 'medium light' for the top and side borders. From this, cut one 6" x 2" strip for top border, and two 1 1/2" x 17 1/2" strips for the side borders.
FABRIC #3: Cut one 2 1/2" x 6" strip of a 'basket' look fabric for the bottom border. Try out some mottled browns, a plaid or even a stripe for this piece!
FABRIC #4: Cut one 8" x 23" strip for backing. You will cut this down in class to fit the finished top size.
FABRIC SCRAPS: Cut one 6" x 6" (approximate size) square from five different fabrics. In some instances, as your project is completed, a fabric may be covered partially or almost completely by Angelina; so, really use some scraps! See the sample for inspiration......the 'eggs' in the 'detail' photo (above) are almost completely covered with Angelina fibers and film. Note: You can complete this project without Angelina! Consider selecting some of those colorful patterned Kaffe Fassett fabrics to create the Easter Eggs.
ANGELINA FIBERS and FILM: Color is your choice. Choose from the great selection at the Byrd's Nest in Palm Coast or bring your scraps from our previous projects! See the 'note' in 'Fabric Scraps' above.
BATTING: Cut one 7" x 22" strip of low loft cotton batting. You will cut this down in class to fit the finished top size.
FUSIBLE WEB: Approximately 1/3 yard of SteamASeam2 or HeatNBond Lite.
BLACK PERMANENT MARKER: Such as Sharpie, for tracing shapes onto fusible web. No water soluble markers (e.g., 'felt tip' pens)! They smudge!
SCISSORS: For cutting shapes from the fusible web applied to the fabrics.
SEWING MACHINE: In good working order, and one with which you are comfortable operating. Remember the foot control and power cord.
BASIC SEWING SUPPLIES: Bring the tools you usually use when sewing, such as a seam ripper, scissors, threads, bobbins, etc.
THREAD: For piecing and quilting.
ROTARY CUTTER, ACRYLIC RULER AND CLASSROOM SIZE CUTTING MAT: Make sure you have a sharp blade in the cutter. A 12" x 18" mat is great for use in the classroom. The ruler should be long enough to cut your fabrics.
