PLEASE HELP US: For the comfort and well being of all, please do not wear any type of scented product to class, (e.g., perfume, cologne, body splash, powders, lotions, creams, etc.). Your classmates and/or instructor may suffer from serious health issues, such as asthma or allergies. In addition, please turn your cell phone to 'silent' / 'vibrate' prior to coming to class. In order to avoid distractions in the classroom, please make or take phone calls outside. Thank you so much for your assistance and understanding!
PATTERN: Easy Clam Shells......will be available in Palm Coast mid March.
NOTE ABOUT FABRIC SELECTION: Choose two fabrics that contrast well with each other, whether that is in terms of light/dark, or opposite colors (e.g., purple/yellow, black/white, etc.).
FABRIC #1: 1/3 yard 'light'
FABRIC #2: 1/3 yard 'dark'
FABRIC #3: 5/8 yard for lattice and binding (edges); OR, you may purchase Clover 1/2" wide fusible bias tape for the lattice (not the binding)......one roll is more than enough......this product must be ordered, so please let us know at least ten days in advance if you would like this product (and a color choice).
FABRIC #4: 2/3 yard for backing.
BATTING: 20" x 24" piece of fusible fleece.
TEFLON PRESSING SHEET: (or parchment paper)
WATER SOLUBLE FABRIC MARKER: I used a black permanent marker, BECAUSE my fabrics were dark and I knew it would NOT show through! Choose your marking tool carefully!
SHEET OF FIRM TEMPLATE PLASTIC: To cut shapes.
ADHESIVE SANDPAPER DOTS: To adhere to back of template plastic shapes.......you do NOT want your template slipping! You will ruin your fabric!
SCISSORS: For cutting template plastic
BIAS TAPE MAKER, 1/2" wide: if you are making your own lattice and binding.
BIAS TOOL: For cutting your bias strips to make lattice and binding. If you do not have a bias tool (available at the Byrd's Nest), please make sure your 6"x24" ruler has a 45 degree line on it!
ROTARY CUTTER: small cutter, 28 mm works best for cutting out the clam shell shapes; otherwise, you will need to use scissors and cut each clam shell out individually! In addition, you may want to consider your larger ('regular'...45 mm or 60 mm) rotary cutter for cutting lattice and binding strips. You need a sharp blade, sharp blade, sharp blade!!!
LONG ACRYLIC RULER
PINS
SEWING MACHINE: in good working order and one with which you are comfortable. Remember your foot control and power cord.
BASIC SEWING SUPPLIES including seam ripper, pins, scissors, etc.........all those things you normally use when sewing.
